Education First Is Not Just Our Tagline. Here Is What It Actually Means.

Every stylist on our floor is required to keep learning. This is how that happens.

We say education first because we mean it as an operating principle rather than a marketing phrase. A stylist who learned everything they know five years ago and has not updated since is providing a diminishing service whether they realize it or not.

In-House Skills Days

Once a month, Jen holds a 1-on-1 skills day with each stylist on the team. These are hands-on sessions covering specific techniques: cutting, blending, texturizing, babylights, gloss application, and anything else that either the stylist has identified as an area to strengthen or Jen has identified based on what she sees in their work.

MOB Masters Academy and BTC University

Every stylist on the Fettle and Mane team has access to MOB Masters Academy and BTC University, two of the most comprehensive online education platforms for salon professionals. MOB focuses on advanced balayage technique and application. BTC covers color theory, business, and advanced technique across a wide range of subjects. We require this viewing during slow periods rather than treating it as optional professional development.

Brand Education

Kevin Murphy hosts quarterly education sessions for salon partners. Our team attends these to stay current on product knowledge, application technique, and the science behind the formulas we retail and use in our services.

Extension Education

Extension model days happen monthly. Stylists practice and refine installation technique on models, build their portfolio, and identify areas of their method that need attention. Read about the proprietary Fettle and Mane Extension Method that every stylist is trained and assessed on
